Existence begins with blackness. Yet this page is white before I start.*

I haven't added some black, I've taken away some white.

Are we similarly brought into existence by subtracting from a vast blackness?

The bit of black that goes away reunites with us at death.

So where was it until then?
And is it asking the same question about us?*

Let's be unimaginative and abbreviate Bit-of-black to Bob.

Our shadow is also a bit-of-black unique to each of us.
In the light, Bob is linked to us like a Siamese twin, but is unable to recapture the place that you took when you stepped into this plane. When you became.

As long as you exist, Bob is somewhere under around behind ahead of you.
As you dissociate after death, so does Bob. No one mourns this loss because Bob is returning to it's original place in the blackness, the one you pushed it out of by becoming.*

What if Bob returned to his plane, but you didn't fully disappear?
Without your dark companion, would you look like the generic ghost - pale, floating, freed from the weight of your shadow holding you to the ground?
